Vilcabamba, Day 99: Coincidence?!

Yes – that title is thought of with as much sarcasm as Georgio says it with in Ancient Aliens. Today it is a year ago that my beloved grandmother died. I have felt her presence for some days now and don’t doubt she’s around to see what’s going on, for a little while. I had brought a card that she once gave me, to South America and wrote on it on new years eve with the intent to send it to my parents. I had been sloppy and could not find a post office or didn’t look for one, until I came to Vilcabamba and decided it was about time – a month later. After finding out the price, high alike the price for the package I sent home from Quito, I decided this would probably be the only post cards I would send on this journey, so I wrote a few to a few people. Anyway, it seemed to be meant to be that this card my grandmother once gave me, arrived to my parents on the day of her departure back into the void of unity. I’m not sad, I think it’s a good thing. A message maybe – that nothing is a coincidence.

I understand that it strikes my mother harder and I cannot imagine how it would be to lose her in this world, but I try to see it as a celebration – for the departing will once again get a break from the challenges of life on earth and get enlightened about one’s cosmic divinity, if not already discovered in the recently ended lifetime.

So, a lot has obviously happened the past week, but instead of stressing myself to write it all down I have used my energy on being present in the rather difficult decisions. I decided to stay in Vilcabamba instead of going to Peru, hitchhiking with a girl I had planned to travel with. It took me days and a lot of considering advantage against disadvantages, even including some interpretation of dreams, which was all very exhausting. I felt good and relieved after turning down the girl’s offer to travel with her and decided to stay. Soon after I learned it was the right decision as major floods and landslides had made it impossible for other people I know traveling in Peru, to get anywhere in the north-eastern parts – where I had also intended to go. Basically the plans of the people I know got ruined totally and they had to go south.

Instead I decided to go with Cedar up to Baños and Puyo (again, the 3rd time for me) to meet Andrea again. We will be in Baños a few days so the boys can experience the hot spring and then we will go into the jungle to a shaman called Marco near Puyo, who we will have some ceremonies with. I intend to have my Ayahuascha ceremony there, as both Cedar, Andrea and Olivier (one of the people now in Peru) have been there before and talked well about Marco and the place. I’d rather go to a place with references and people I know and are comfortable with, than finding a random place in Peru to be honest. Also, Marco’s place it cheaper and it doesn’t seem to be a gringo rip off, as many places have unfortunately become.

After that I plan to go to Tena (while Cedar goes to The Galapagos with his dad) and stay with the beautiful family of people at Wisdom Forest, the Krishna farm. Maybe see Brendan again as well, who should live in Tena at the other farm by then.
After that I will go down to either Vilcabamba again or straight (as much as possible for the many hour, even day-distance) to Piura in Peru where I will take a flight with Cedar and his dad to Cuzco. We will probably see some ruins together and I think I will go see Bolivia a bit after that, possibly going to Lima after to work maybe. On my way to Europe I will fly by Bogota in Colombia and get that country on my list while experiencing that place a bit for a week, afterwards flying to Madrid. After a few days in Madrid I want to go to Morocco for a bit before heading up through Spain, southern France, northern Italy, Slovenia and then straight to Ozora festival in Hungary. I’m very excited to have planned all this – this is the big master plan; So, let’s see how much of it will actually happen!
I have had some beautiful nice and sunny days with Cedar and his friend Janina from Germany and her boyfriend from Argentina, Juan. We’ve been chilling up at the cabin Cedar’s renting on the mountain – singing and playing guitar, taking San Pedro, looking at stars, dancing and playing with contact balls and spinning flags, cooking and reading naked in the sun, making bonfires in the night, watching movies, making up new words in a mix of Danish, German, Spanish and English and laughed about it uncountable times. We also climbed Mandango – the beautiful peak next to Vilcabamba where so many UFO’s are spotted – it was a crazy beautiful experience.

It’s been some great days and it feels nice to be among likeminded people. Among Janina and Juan’s favorite words is the place where I grew up – Munkerup. They now yell it loudly to either cheer up the vibe or because they’re happy already. It has become a kind of word for exclaiming one’s happiness haha. It’s quite entertaining for me, especially because they pronounce it with such a Swedish accent. Cedar and Janina are the only two people I’ve met so far I think who thinks that Danish is the cutest language ever. But, with their strange Swedish accent, it kind of sounds cute all the time anyway.

I’ve decided to write down some Rainbow songs (used in Rainbow Gatherings) in order to be able to sing them all, knowing the full lyrics. One I memorize already is one we used to sing before eating in Wisdom Forest:

”Estamos aqui

Juntos de los manos

Canta la canción

La canción del corazon

Esto es familia

Esto es unida-ad

Esto es celebración

Esto es Sagra-a-adoo.

Here’s a mix of pictures from the last week or so:
